Space Elements has reached an agreement with PlaneWave Instruments to build three new observatory class systems, which include a CDK500 observatory class system and two CDK400 class observatory systems.

The CDK500 observatory system will be the second CDK500 build for Space Elements, with the same specifications as the system announced in October, 2021 (.508 meter CDK 20, which is a f/7.77 focal ratio). Each of the CDK400 observatory class systems are .432 meter CDK 17 telescopes, featuring f/6.8 focal ratios, and the “Corrected Dall-Kirkham Astrograph” design. These telescopes will be mounted in an equatorial configuration on the L-500 mount, which is the same mount in operation for the CDK500 systems. The expected completion date for these three new observatory class systems is in Q4 2022 (October-December).

These observatory systems are the third, fourth and fifth large telescope projects for Space Elements and will be installed at soon to be disclosed locations in the Northern Hemisphere. Space Elements Founder and CEO, Ira Bell shared, “Space Elements has begun to lay the groundwork for observatories throughout the United States, in an effort to broadly enable access to space for mankind.”

2022 Observatory Footprint

In just over a year of operation, Space Elements has completed observatory installations or reached agreements for completion of observatory builds for six telescopes. Additionally, Space Elements has added three mobile observatory systems to the fleet. More updates will follow as Space Elements brings this incredible vision to life.
